AMERICAN STUDENT MISSING IN ROME

JOHN DURKIN went missing in Rome 2 days ago. He is an American
student from Bates College in Maine (USA) on the Trinity College (Hartford,
CT USA) Program in Rome.

John was last seen by his friends in Campo dei Fiori, at Sloppy Sam’s, Wednesday night (technically Thursday morning) at around 1:30 AM. Their program director filed a report with the police the next day. He hasn’t been see since.

He’s 21 years old, 6’1" and about 210
pounds. He has brown hair and an athletic build. He goes by both John and
Johnny.

Unfortunately we don’t have much more information. John’s uncle is in Rome
now and meeting with both the Police and the US Embassy. John’s father is
traveling to Rome.

If you have any friends on abroad programs in Rome, please forward this message along. Please have them contact Rome Police immediately if they have any information

Unfortunately, the family has announced that the boy has died. Authorities identified him as being the man who was hit and killed by a train in the tunnel between San Pietro and Trastevere stations, on Thursday morning. All of us at Insiders Abroad would like to send their condolences to John's family.
